About Champion Hills
Champion Hills is a private golf community about five miles from downtown Hendersonville, with elevations reaching roughly 2,500 feet. The club is owned by its members and described as debt-free; property owners are not required to join. Its centerpiece is the Tom Fazio course that opened in 1991. Fazio lives in Hendersonville, and the club is known as his hometown course. The par-71 layout works through about 350 feet of elevation change, most holes playing downhill, with a par-3 ninth that drops some 125 feet from tee to green. Golfweek placed it 11th among North Carolina's private courses in 2023, and Golf Digest has ranked it the top year-round course in Western North Carolina.
Homes are mostly custom single-family on wooded lots of about half an acre to more than two acres, along with villas and the Azalea Ridge townhomes beside the fourth and fifth holes; the club also lists a new neighborhood, Chimney Crossing. Roughly 320 of 450 planned homes have been built, and more than half of residents live there year-round. Amenities include a 25,000-square-foot clubhouse, fitness and wellness center, heated pool, lighted Har-Tru tennis courts, pickleball and about 17 miles of trails. Troon Privé manages the club.
