Reynolds Mountain

A roughly 500-acre planned community on a mountainside north of Asheville, straddling the Woodfin town line, with custom homes, villas and townhomes above the shops of Reynolds Village.

About Reynolds Mountain

Reynolds Mountain rises on the north side of Asheville, on land that straddles the line between the City of Asheville and the Town of Woodfin, a roughly 500-acre development and the area's first large planned mixed-use community, with first residents in 2002. The land carries the Reynolds family name: the brick Reynolds House, built before the Civil War and listed on the National Register in 1984, still stands near the base and operates as an inn, and Senator Robert R. Reynolds, Asheville-born and in the Senate from his 1932 election until January 1945, spent his later years here. Elevations run from roughly 2,000 feet near Reynolds Village to about 3,000 feet on the upper ridge.

The community is organized in three parts, The Valley, The Village and The Mountain. Reynolds Village at the bottom is a cluster of shops, restaurants, offices and a YMCA. Above it are Arts and Crafts villas, townhomes and the newer Terrace section, then custom homes on lots often over an acre, with views of the French Broad valley, Beaver Lake and the Grove Park Inn. A 16-acre nature preserve with walking trails and a community pavilion sit within the development, and the Woodfin Greenway is planned to link it to the French Broad River. Addresses carry both Asheville and Woodfin, so municipal taxes and services depend on the lot.
